Architecture and Design that is sustainable for nature We take into account the biophilic architecture in our designs in order to improve the quality of life of those living near to our fountains.

What is Biophilia Architecture?

Biophilic design applied to architecture, promotes the inclusion of natural features in the design of open spaces. The use of colours and materials present in nature, such as wood, the inclusion of plants, the creation of areas with lots of natural light and the sound of flowing water are some of the design criteria considered in this work.

This type of architecture related to nature is becoming ever more popular in the design of open spaces.

How biophilic architecture improves people's well-being

Vegetation, colours and light, combined with water brings people closer to nature, which on many occasions is absent in current large urban areas.

The main objective of biophilic design is the return to natural environments, in order to offer a better quality of life for individuals, both in reference to the quality of the atmosphere as well as making people’s lives easier. The natural spaces recreated for this type of architecture achieve for example, in offices, a more pleasant and relaxed working environment, along with improved well-being, which leads to improved productivity.

Examples of biophilic architecture in our fountains

Fountains are an important feature in the creation of biophilic spaces. They provide beauty, richness and vitality, as well as contributing to calming and relaxing spaces that remind us of natural landscapes. Water is a natural resource, vital for life, that affects health, the environment and temperature.

At OTB, we are concerned with creating agreeable work and recreational environments via an ambience that is created with the sounds of our fountains. Using noble materials such as stone, and taking into account the surrounding area, we are able to create an appropriate sensorial addition to each space.

Naturalised fountains

These are fountains in which water treatment occurs naturally, without the need for chemical products, via the flora and fauna generated around the new ecosystem. They tend to be calm water basins without water features and create a rich biodiversity for its surroundings.

These fountains tend to be located in areas away from the city, such as parks or suburban areas, as these types of areas enable the preservation of the ecosystem, as well as the conservation of water thanks to the amphibious species and algae that reside there.
