Dancing Fountains
Dancing fountains, also known as musical fountains, are one of the most striking and spectacular types of ornamental fountain.
Design of Dancing Fountains
The use of this type of fountain is very common in open spaces with large numbers of people, as they offer a completely synchronized spectacle of water and light that attracts all types of audiences. It is also common to add music to create a larger show, which generates an aquatic ballet effect where the water dances with the music. At OTB we design aquatic choreographies that fill the space with light, color and art to make the environments more original and attractive.
Types of dancing fountain
When people think of dancing water fountains, they often think of a combination of water, light and music. However, we also work with the possibility of playing with just water and light. We therefore distinguish between:
Musical dancing fountains
These are the dancing water fountains that combine water, light and music. They are very attractive as the water dancing to the rhythm of the music and the use of the lights make this show quite unique. A clear example of this is our famous fountain in the Polygone Shopping Centre, in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France.
Silent dancing fountains
In these fountains, the water plays with the light and its colours, combining these with different movements. It is very common to see this type of dancing fountain on roundabouts, as they are a special feature for the town, but do not require as much attention on the part of passers-by. For example, our fountain in Santa María del Páramo, in León.
How dancing fountains work
The key to the creation of our dancing fountains is the synchronisation of the water with the lights and music to create a live show. To this end, a series of effects and choreography are programmed in which the movements of the water and the changes in the lights are coordinated with the rhythm of the music thus creating the characteristic dancing of these fountains.
All the systems that make this choreography possible are controlled with DMX technology from the fountain’s control panels using our in-house software, Syncroshow. This software allows the control of all the fountain’s systems from a Smartphone-friendly application, which allows the user to see the status of the fountain in real time and control the light and water features remotely. Dancing fountains are powered by low voltage systems to reduce the possibility of accidents, according to the legislation in force.
