Design
As a complement to the water mirror in the square, it was decided to install a walkable fountain where children could play and bathe.
Therefore, apart from the mirror and the misting system, 32 walkable jets were installed on one of the sides of the fountain, equipped with special switches to create fun and spectacular effects of appearances, chases and alternations for embellishing the fountain as a whole and its play possibilities. At night these jets are illuminated by full colour LED luminaires.
Execution
Civil works
First of all, the excavation and installation of the technical room was carried out, as well as the passage of the installations that were to be necessary for the subsequent connection of the installations.
For the visible surface of the square, a different paving was chosen from the rest of the square to visually mark the space occupied by the fountain, using triangular paving in two colours.
Around the perimeter, a groove was designed through which the water from the square returned to the tank to be chemically treated to keep it in optimum hygienic conditions for playing with it.
Installation
The installation of this system was carried out at the same time of the civil works phase, as the hydraulic jets were installed under the paving of the square.
Jets were placed along the square to cover the space with vertical effects so that children could play and run from side to side.
In addition, the fountain is equipped with vaporisers to refresh the atmosphere in the summer season.
Programming
The last stage for the installation of the fountain consisted of programming and synchronising the water effects with the accompanying lighting, thus creating different night-time games.
Sustainability
The installation operates in a closed flow, requiring no additional water supply apart from the needs caused by evaporation or wind losses.
An efficient water treatment system installed in the technical room ensures that the water is kept in good condition, which on the one hand avoids having to empty the tank frequently for cleaning and on the other hand guarantees water in perfect hygienic condition.
As far as the technical equipment is concerned, the pumps, valves and other components used are of the highest efficiency available, with flow rates and pressures that are adapted to the real needs of the installation. This contributes significantly to the reduction of electrical energy consumption.
Operating modes
The fountain runs several programmes with different choreographies of water and multicolour light, which are reproduced on different days and at different times at the customer’s choice.
For the lighting, there is also a calendar of special local and world days that are automatically reproduced on the day selected, such as World Water Day, Women’s Day, etc. These days, the fountain, apart from the different choreographies of water games, only emits the colours that represent the day.
