Design
From the beginning of the project, the fountain was conceived as walkable so that there would be different play options for children. In addition, this fountain allows the citizens to use the space for other functions if it remains turned off.
The space where the fountain was designed is a rectangular square with a slight slope of the land next to a park, so a simple model of jets in a grid and a perimeter grid that prevented water from reaching the park was chosen.
Before the beginning of the installation, the design and layout of all the systems was carried out.
Execution
The execution of the project was divided into three main phases:
- The first phase was the civil works, which included excavation and leveling of the land. Next, the installations that would be buried under the pavement were placed, such as pipes, drains, electrical conduits and manholes made of high-quality AISI316 stainless steel, intended to house the dispenser systems. Special attention was paid to the location of the technical room, where most of the systems are located, and to the water pipes from this room to the source.
- The second phase consisted of the installation of the hydraulic and electrical elements, which required close coordination with the civil works. Pipes, pumps, nozzles and other necessary elements were assembled, and individual grilles and LED lights were placed on each dispenser. In addition, a centralized water treatment system was installed connected to each manhole.
- Finally, the connection and commissioning of the source was carried out. The electrical connections of all the equipment were made to the control panel located in the technical room, using our Syncroshow® control software . This software allows to program and control the operation of the fountain according to different conditions, such as time and weather conditions. Tests were carried out to ensure its operation according to the established parameters.
Sustainability
At OTB, sustainability is a fundamental aspect. We care about using high-quality, durable materials, such as stainless steel and submergible materials, in order to reduce the need for frequent replacements and, consequently, reduce resource consumption and environmental impact.
Likewise, we focus on achieving maximum energy efficiency by implementing low-power LED lights and carefully adjusting the installation so that it operates with the least amount of energy necessary, without compromising its performance. This translates into lower energy consumption and a significant reduction in carbon emissions, generating long-term savings and contributing to the mitigation of climate change.
Regarding water, we implement a treatment system that allows us to reuse it, operating in a closed circuit. This involves recirculating water instead of constantly discarding it, which limits its consumption and maintains its quality in optimal conditions. In this way, we minimize water waste and reduce the demand for water resources, promoting responsible and sustainable use of this vital resource.
In summary, at OTB we are committed to adopting sustainability criteria in the choice of materials, we promote energy efficiency and responsibly manage water in our projects. These actions reflect our commitment to protecting the environment and optimizing resources, thus contributing to the construction of a more sustainable future.
Operating modes
Regarding the functions and curiosities of the fountain, different operating modes can be programmed depending on the time of day and the influx of public:
- Static mode, in which the source operates with slight variations
- Water games mode, created from different programmed sequences
- Light and water games mode, which are programmed to work at night
- Eco mode, which represents energy savings during non-peak hours at the fountain.
