Description
These fountains are part of the renovation of a section of the promenade and are designed in the shape of a star, complementing the ornamental white spiral lighting of the rest of the space.
One fountain consists of 6 vertical jets and the other of twelve, but both feature a centrally located jet of variable shape that creates spectacular water displays. Each jet is equipped with its own multicolored LED projector programmed to create different color schemes.
This fountain on the Explanada Promenade in Alicante is a model of energy efficiency and sustainability. Being walkable, it allows people to move freely without reducing the available space. Equipped with efficient recirculation and drainage systems, it reduces water consumption and supports environmental conservation. In addition to its visual appeal, it promotes interaction and enjoyment among users of all ages.
Execution
The project execution was carried out in three phases:
- The project began with civil engineering works. These works were complemented with the installation of underground facilities such as piping systems, drainage, and fountain filling, as well as water chambers prepared to house the fountain mechanisms. Special care was taken to determine the optimal position of the control room, which houses most of the systems, and in the design of the piping from this room to the fountain.
- The next stage involved the implementation of hydraulic and electrical components. This included the placement of pipes, pumps, nozzles, wiring, and the installation of grids and LED lighting systems customized for each fountain jet. A central water treatment system was also added, connected to each of the water chambers.
- The final step consisted of the integration and activation of the fountain. Necessary electrical connections were made between the equipment and the control panel, located in the technical room. On-site programming of the different choreographies and operating parameters of the fountain was performed based on various factors, including time and weather. Exhaustive tests were conducted to confirm that the fountain operated according to defined standards and parameters.
Sustainability
This project is developed following European sustainability criteria, which involve taking measures to minimize environmental impact and maximize the efficiency of resources used. Priority has been given to reliable technical solutions that promote sustainability.
Another prominent feature is the use of robust and high-quality materials, such as stainless steel, in hydraulic systems and LED lighting. These materials have greater durability, contributing to a longer lifespan of the installation and reducing the need for frequent replacements.
The water treatment implemented in the project is another key aspect of sustainability. It allows for water reuse, significantly reducing consumption. Water inputs are only made as necessary to compensate for evaporation losses and partial replacements for maintenance, always prioritizing water safety and quality.
Operating Modes
Following a pre-established schedule, the two fountains on the Explanada Promenade have different operating options:
Standard Mode: Daily operating mode with gentle changes in shape and height.
Show Mode: Dynamic water and light shows are combined at precise times of the day to admire the fountains.
Eco Mode: In this mode, the jets operate in a very simple way to save energy during low fountain usage periods.
Special Day: It features specific lighting to celebrate a particular day of the year.
